The Pushing the Envelope Internship Program provides educational training and hands-on experience, working under close supervision of senior staff and benefitting from mentoring sessions with industry leaders. We are proud to have partnered with Florida Gulf Coast University and have worked with students from many others universities, colleges and institutions. Interns must be enrolled in a course or program requiring internship credit and there is no monetary compensation for participation in this internship program. Progress and learning evaluations are provided throughout course of the internship and letters of professional character reference are available upon request at the end of the tenure.
This program is aimed at undergraduate students seeking a career in the communications, marketing, journalism, business, or related field. Interns will get the opportunity to work with a team of their peers, the staff of Pushing the Envelope as well as clients in a wide range of industries including local and national brands.

Intern Job Description
The Marketing and Communications Intern will provide support for marketing and communications activities and related services provided to Pushing the Envelope (PTE) and clients. This includes assisting with client and project management and reputation management services via research, publicity efforts, media relations, social media content development, and other related tasks. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain knowledge and experience day-to-day skills and efforts necessary to work within a marketing agency with a flexible schedule. The Marketing and Communications Intern will report directly to the Project Manager and collaborate with team members and clients.
Requirements:
- Currently enrolled in a Florida University, College or Technical school pursuing a business, marketing, advertising, communications, Internet related profession or related field of study.
- Ability to commit to a minimum of 10 weeks and up to 12 weeks at PTE.
- Display proactive and hard working characteristics with a desire to grow skills in a fast paced environment.

- Willing and able to work in a fluid team environment
- Strong computer and Internet skills; knowledge and enthusiasm for web-based applications
- Strong analytical, verbal and written communications skills (business writing, creative writing, English language, etc.)
- Knowledge of marketing communications fundamentals (promotional writing, consumer behavior, marketing research, integrated marketing, etc.)
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and all related applications
- Limited graphic design skills a plus
- Previous internship or work experience in Sales, Advertising, Consulting, Analysis, Customer Service, Marketing and Communications or related field.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Answering phones and greeting guests
- Preparing office for meeting including prepping conference room and agenda creation
- Content development for PTE and client communication channels including, but not limited to social media, email marketing, mobile marketing, news releases, blogs and websites
- Copywriting and proofing
- Editorial calendar research
- Assist with various public relations efforts (community outreach, presentation development, media opportunity research, etc.)
- Shoot photographs for client communications as needed
- Assist with reputation management and reporting
- Assist with monthly report development and data analysis
